What Actually Drives the Price
Laser hair removal isn't one flat fee — it depends on:
- The size of the area. An upper lip is quick; a full body is a completely different session.
- The number of sessions. Hair grows in cycles, so it takes a series (usually six or more) to treat every follicle while it's active. Pricing is almost always built around that series.
- The technology and the technician. A modern laser and a licensed, trained tech — especially one who can safely treat deeper skin tones — costs more to run than a bargain machine and a weekend certificate. You're paying for results that actually last and skin that stays even.

When you're comparing prices, the number that matters isn't the single-session price; it's the cost of the full series, because one session alone won't get you there.
Does It Cost More for Dark or Melanated Skin?
It shouldn't cost more per area — and if a provider is charging a premium just to treat dark skin, that's a red flag. What deeper skin does require is the right wavelength and a tech who treats it conservatively. My diode runs 755, 808 and 1064 nm, and 1064 is the one that reaches the follicle while leaving more of the skin's own pigment alone. Every new client gets a test spot first. That careful approach can occasionally mean a couple of extra sessions — but that's caution, not a surcharge. Why the Cheapest Option Usually Costs More
A rock-bottom laser deal is tempting, but here's what tends to happen: an underpowered machine or rushed sessions mean the hair doesn't fully clear, so you pay again somewhere else to actually finish. On deeper skin, a cheap-and-fast approach can leave burns or dark spots that then cost time and money to correct. "Affordable" that doesn't work isn't affordable — it's just a slower way to spend more.

My Prices
Laser is priced by area size. These are my current prices, and they're the same whether your skin is light or deep.
A full series is six to eight sessions. Face areas are treated every 4 to 6 weeks, body areas every 6 to 8 weeks. Full body is quoted at the consultation.
Smooth Club is $69 a month for one small face area (lip, chin, sideburns or neck) or $119 a month for one medium body area (underarms, bikini line, half arms or half legs). Six-month minimum, then month to month, plus 15% off my other services. See Smooth Club.
My laser is a triple-wavelength diode (755, 808 and 1064 nm) with sapphire contact cooling. I use 1064 nm on deeper skin because it reaches the follicle while largely passing over the melanin in the skin, and every new client gets a test spot first.
